This is the last class for Semls Learning 2.0.   I highly recommend it to my colleagues.  I have learned a great deal from our facilitator and from my classmates. I appreciate all the very informative sites I’ve been guided to and those that have been guided to me via my RSS feed.  I would say that the most useful tools I have learned about are blogs, wikis, setting up feeds, and using tags for bookmarking. I intend to keep it going.

At the very least, I hope to set up a blog for my school library. I’ve seen very outstanding examples of libraries using social networking software. Anyone who looks at them – be it librarians or school administrators – would be impressed. And once you learn how to use the software, it’s a really time saver. Thanks Semls!

Social Networking

This has been an interesting adventure. There are so many components to social networking. It’s hard to believe that this course will be over next week.

Getting there.

From reading the comments, it seems like my classmates feel as I do – wikis are  fun and easy to use.  I enjoyed adding to the SEMLS wiki and found myself going back to it almost every day this week.  I hope to review previous lessons with the goal of feeling more confident about the activities from weeks 2 and 3.

Vacation – On the beach not…

palm-tree.jpg   I won’t be on the beach this February but I do hope to spend time learning how to fine tune the layout of this blog!

Now that I have completed this week’s assignments, this cute guy reflects my enthusiasm for what I’ve learned so far.

Author visit

what-happened.jpg     Peter Johnson  visited our library.  He talked about his book, What Happened, and about prose poetry.  It was great a program! Peter makes a good connection with students.

One more time

Ok – I’m starting over with an intro. I’m taking this course because I work as a high school librarian/media specialist.

Formerly, I was a public library director. I enjoy the change and I enjoy learning new things. This is my first time writing a blog, but not my first time blogging, (so to speak). It’s not hard but it does take time. I’m looking forward to learning with everyone as this course continues.
